AKITSE

He was dark-brown, almost black,

So tall that his walk through the entrance of the high school gate called for all sights. Why?

The bucket in his hand was already touching the ground.

Birds chirped in awe

Even the trees on each side

of the road danced in amazement.

He shivered yet tried to ignore by taking his stylish walk

And oh, more salt was added to injury;

The hushed whispers were now clear and obvious.

"He's 12" the seniors said

"No, he may be 17", assumed the eavesdroppers.

"But how can that be? He sure is a kind of Aki and Pawpaw, the famous Nollywood acting duo", others supposed.

"He may only be an escort to one of those visitors", some still presumed.

After a long day of chatter talks

It was finally settled that he's a member of House One.

He climbed upstairs to inspect the place and load off his things.

Of course, the number of years he had lived was deliberately hidden beneath the sand;

a secret to the gods.

Inquisitive persons were never satisfied,

Natheless, he cared less

His pretty little good looks earned him the name, "Akitse".

And up until now when the young boy has gained a much better height, haha!

The preference for "Akitse" as reference is on a higher scale than his real name.

So anytime I trip down memory lane, I arrive at saying, "The young shall grow if time permits it. The grown shall become old and the old will pass away" (Krinshenal).

About 6 years now;

It has to be God!
